Pedestrian Struck, Killed on I-95

GROTON, Conn. (AP) – Authorities say a pedestrian who was struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 northbound in Groton has died.

State police haven’t yet named the person killed in Thursday morning’s accident between exits 85 and 86, which was reported at about 4:45 a.m. It’s not clear why the victim was walking on the highway.

Troopers closed three of the four northbound lanes during the investigation and cleanup, which tied up traffic. All lanes were reopened about three hours after the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
