2 Arrested in Oxycontin Smuggling Case

oxycontin 2 Arrested in Oxycontin Smuggling CaseAuthorities say they’ve arrested two people and seized prescription drugs valued at about $56,000,   in an investigation of international drug smuggling which led them to Hartford and Waterford.

State Police Lieutenant Paul Vance says the State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force,  along with Waterford Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration, learned that a courier would be arriving at J-F-K airport from Peru carrying Oxycontin tablets.  They set up surveillance,  and determined that an accomplice picked the suspect up at the airport:

33-year-old Danny Miranda of Hartford and 25 year old Ashley Gibson of Waterford were arrested on various drug charges.   Narcotics Detectives seized 1,398 Oxycontin 40mg tablets, and $1534 in cash from both accused.   The estimated street value of the painkiller is $55,920.
