Bysiewicz: Use of Voter List Cleared by Prosecutor
Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz released a statement late Friday that her office has been told it’s been cleared in an investigation of possible political use of a state database.
Last month Attorney General Richard Blumenthal referred the matter to Chief State’s Attorney Kevin Kane, saying he found no violation of law in the use of the list of 36,000 names with personal information in the taxpayer-funded database– but that he did consider it inappropriate.
Kane’s letter, released by Bysiewicz, says a review of the situation “concluded no criminal investigation is warranted into the matters addressed by the report. ”
