Police Charge Text-ual Harassment

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) _ A New York man is facing 272 charges after Connecticut police accused him of sending scores of harassing text messages to a Norwalk woman who’s the mother of his 2-year-old son.

Forty-three-year-old Robert Kneip of Tuckahoe, N.Y., near Westchester, was arraigned Wednesday in Norwalk Superior Court on multiple counts of harassment, threatening and violating a judge’s orders.

The Advocate of Stamford reports Kneip posted $32,000 bail.

The woman called police on Aug. 4 to report that Kneip had sent her 24 crude text messages. Police say Kneip sent another 67 texts to her after she reminded him to pay child support, despite protective and restraining orders against him.

Kneip couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday. A phone listing for him couldn’t be found.
