Subject of Police Alert Linked to Post Office Evacuation

Police in Thomaston say a missing man who was the subject of a natiowide alert is behind a threat which prompted evacuation of some Thomaston town buildings today.

Police say 43-year-old Roland Prejean of Morris is held in North Dakota.

He disappeared last week after taking his roommate’s car,  leaving behind a threatening letter.  Thomaston police say Prejean turned himself in to authorities in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Prejean also is a suspect in threatening letter sent to the the post office,  which included a list of threats, including threats to staff at Connecticut Valley hospital.

When the post office received the letter today, it prompted evaucation of the post office, and a nearby  school and town hall for a time.  Nothing was found.

In Thomaston, he faces charges of first degree and second degree threatening and breach of peace.  State police were applying for a fugitive warrant.
